Road Legal Plates

These number plates will be produced with the relevant legal markings and will use legal spacing.

It is a legal requirement for all customers to submit a document from each of the lists below to confirm their identity and to prove their ownership of the registration.

You can use one of the following to confirm your name and address:

  • Driving licence, with or without a photo (doesn’t have to be issued in the UK)
  • Utility bill, Council Tax or rates bill in Northern Ireland (from the last 6 months)
  • Bank or building society statement (from the last 6 months)
  • National identity card (issued by the government of a state or territory other than the United Kingdom)

You can use one of the following to confirm your entitlement to the registration:

  • Vehicle registration certificate (V5C)
  • New keeper slip (green slip)
  • A certificate of entitlement to the number (V750)
  • A retention document (V778)
  • A renewal reminder for vehicle tax or SORN (V11)
  • A temporary registration certificate (V379)
  • A number plate authorisation certificate (V948) with an official stamp from the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency (DVLA)
  • An electronic number plate authorisation certificate (eV948) or an electronic trailer number plate authorisation certificate (eV948/2)
  • UK trailer registration certificate (VTRC)

Submission

  • Email: You can email docs@plateplus.co.uk with clear images of your documents attached.
  • Amazon: You can send images of your documents directly to PlatePlus on Amazon using the ‘Contact the Seller’ option.
  • Postal: We accept documents in the post. Please send your original documents to the following address: PlatePlus, Unit 2A Brook Lane Industrial Estate, Westbury, BA13 4EP

 

Show Plates

Show Plates do not have to adhere to the DVLA’s regulations when it comes to spacing, as they are meant for Show purposes only. This means they are not intended for use on the road.

As a result, they are produced without the relevant legal markings.
